Gordon and Clare look forward to welcoming you onboard Concerto.

Gordon and Clare look forward to welcoming you onboard Concerto.  Having met through their joint love of sailing and being at sea, they have been working together in the sailing industry for over four years.  Before joining Concerto in 2008, they were Captain and Chef onboard a 54 foot Sailing yacht on the south coast of France.

Growing up in Scotland, Gordon spent his school days racing dinghies as a member of the UK national sailing squad.  During his time at Glasgow University, he delivered yachts around the UK and Europe to fund his studies and raced extensively off the west coast of Scotland.  He won the Student Yachting Nationals and had a top-ten result at the Yachting Worlds in France.  Realising he wanted to turn this passion into a career, he headed off to Australia for a year where he spent his time managing a charter company in Sydney Harbour.  While there he raced in the Harbour and along the east coast including a podium position in the famous Pittwater to Coffs Harbour Offshore Regatta.  After a charter season in Greece, Gordon returned to Australia to work on a 40-metre sailing yacht, on which he sailed around the east coast with the owner and subsequently crossed the Pacific.

As a qualified Master <200gt (Yacht) and also holding a commercial yachtmaster certificate, Gordon is more than happy to get you involved in the sailing experience.  Gordon’s enthusiasm for sailing along with his ability will ensure that you feel at ease as soon as you step onboard as well as providing you with a safe and thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

Clare spent her early childhood years living in Paris before moving back to London where her sailing days began in the warmer waters of the Balearic Islands on family holidays.  Her interest grew once she started at Edinburgh University and joined the University Sailing Team.  She raced all over the UK for four years and captained the ladies’ team as well as becoming commodore for the sailing club during her final year.  After graduating from university, Clare entered the hospitality industry and worked at several high profile events around London with guests who included the British Royal Family, Saudi Royal Family and various celebrities.  Her free time was spent gaining various qualifications in sailing and cookery.

Clare is an accomplished cook who enjoys scouring the local markets to find fresh produce in order to create fine healthy cuisine.  Her menus are inspired mainly by the culinary delights of the Mediterranean, France and Asia.  Her interest in cooking evolved when she was fortunate to be taught through the world renowned Leith’s School of Food and Wine.  Following this she gained valuable insight into local cuisine when travelling round Australia, New Zealand and Asia.  She loves the challenge of creating great tasting, great looking food whilst meeting your individual preferences and dietary requirements.

Gordon and Clare have combined their skills to create a young, dynamic and professional team and they will ensure that your time onboard Concerto is a memorable experience.
